Fell and I took a shopping trip to the Boardroom in Broad Ripple on Saturday and picked up 2 dwarven fighter minis that he started painting on Saturday while I was fussing over Saphira/Allessia's eyes. The one with the higher charisma has a male dwarven mini model with a winged helm and ornate shield. The one with lower charisma has a female dwarven mini model holding a double axe.
Speaking of stats, Saphira will be hurting for skill points. I rolled a 7 and had to put it in INT elsewise she couldn't carry jack crap and wear hardly any armor. Bleh...
I told allessia not to worry about outfitting but you all seemed to do a good and reasonable job with it so your equipment will work just fine. The male mini also has a one handed waraxe...but no big deal you never know what equipment will be found and swapped out in the dungeon anyway.
Equiptment looks good to me. I'll go with whatever the experienced dwarven fighter says. Are we playing one dwarf as a male and one as a female? What do you guys think about the names Anath and Seth? Anath is a Semetic goddess of war and fertility, and Seth is an Egyptian god of war. Just thoughts.
Dwarf 2 is female (has braids and a big axe) and Dwarf 1 is male (has beard, shield, and axe). Nori and Dori might work for names too (two dwarves from the Hobbit). Practically speaking, they could be Meat and Shield or Pack and Horse.

Ok. I get it. Anath and Seth for the dwarves - sorry missed it for a second. I like Anath and Seth better than Dori and Nori personally. It will be easier to tell who is who with Seth and Anath. And I am name impaired so often think of those things.
Check with the Dwarf to be sure but I'm 99% sure that it's a general feat that anyone can take. It is an awfully sweet feat. Unlike my awfully sweaty feet.
I also prefer Anath and Seth. What's the pronounciation on Anath? Are both "A"s short? Maybe the first is long? Or maybe the first is like "ah." And is it A'-nath or a-NATH'?
I'm not sure on the pronounciation, I can't find anything about the pronounciation either. We should take a vote on what sounds best. The feat just says general, so I guess as long as the character generator program will let you do it, we're in buisiness. Does anyone else have rope besides dwarf #1? Do we need more than 50' of silk rope? I think it would be a good idea to have more. Does anyone have a shovel? I couldn't buy a lot of stuff, I had to use my 100 bonus gp to buy MW theives tools, so I have no potions.
Just an FYI on the potions listed in the 3.5 Character Generator program, there are several very uber potions listed (i.e. grant 3d10 hps for 6 hours) at no cost. That's a software bug and the new DL caught me on it when I had a shitpile of uber potions in my starting package. Girls gotta try, you know! No 3d10 hps for me now, booo!! :(
On pronunciation of Anath, I'd like to suggest we go with AH-nath. Long A-nath sounds like you're saying "anus" with a bad lisp.
As I understand it, rapid metabolism is a general feat.
Dwarf #1 has a shovel.
He is the only one I know of with rope. Neither I nor Caprico have any as far as I know. It is fine to have more, I just don't have any more cash to purchase more with. If one of you do, go for it!
Looks like the second "a" is long and the "th" is pronounced as a "t" - but I am notoriously terrible at phonetics (hazardous in my job). Maybe if Wolfie or Kaironen are on they could help?
On the MW theives tools Loki you will be getting a free set...and can go ahead had add them to your inventory, but having a second set isn't a bad idea. There will be a chance to break them on critical fails, and there are only so many tools in a set...but they can be repaired with a difficult blacksmithing check (someone might want to buy smithing tools if no one has). If everyone is out of money you could trade in the spear from one of the dwarves for the tools.
As far as char sheets it doesn't matter who puts them together. Since I can see and agree with how the dwarves are outfitted it's just a matter of copying it into etools. Let me know if someone wants to do it. If not I'll take care of it.
I believe I have some gold left but not a lot of weight left (at least not if I'm trying to stay at a light load) so I think I can afford to buy the Artisan's Tools (5 GP) but one of the Dwarves will have to carry them (5 lbs). I think I can also afford silk rope. I meant to buy some anyway and just forgot about it. Whether I'm the one who carries it (another 5 lbs) or not can be determined later but I'll buy some either way. Scout, it might be a good idea to have the back-up MW thieve's tools although it would seem unlikely that you would have 2 sets with you if you weren't expecting to be stuck in a dungeon for 2 years... Whichever of the Dwarves has blacksmithing might just have to fix 'em if it comes to that since the 30 GP would go a long way toward a Cure Light Wounds potion or something else handy. It's up to you. Whatever you decide is fine. Caprico will make everything ok. For a little sugar, of course.
I like the skill distribtion for the 2 - makes sense to think of them as two halves of the same team.
As for pronunciation, it looks like the Wikipedia has it as either A-naht (where A is as in the word "cat") or AH-naht. But modern Hebrew has stress on the final syllable of 2-syllable words, so if this was already the case for older semitic languages, then Anath would probably have been something more like uh-NAT or ah-NAHT (or uh-NAHT or ah-NAT), where NAT is pronounced more or less like "gnat" and NAHT is more or less like "knot."
After I wrote all that I found a website that has pronunciations of biblical words that suggests that ah-NAHT is probably the most "correct" way to go.
However, given how nice you guys generally are to lawful good types, my suspicion is that having a name that sounds like "'saying "anus' with a bad lisp" is the least of many worries for this poor dwarf...
hmmm...good suggestion at bringing up the lawful good point. Will lawful good npcs work well with the overall alignment of our party?? Saphira is slated to be lawful neutral. In past campaigns, having one pc's alignment being very different from the party led for some awkward situations. Namely an instance where Fell's chaotic rogue killed an npc that our sister in law's lawful good paladin and my lawful good cleric rescued. I digress...
From a bit of reading on the web, lawful good characters can be seen as hard working honest folk. Maybe that's the approach we should take with these two? Any backstory oh new DL??
For the new DL (who really needs a new name): I subtracted 10 GP from my funds (which I was just BARELY able to afford) so the dwarves can each have a set of Artisan's tools appropriate to their craft. We can say I offered to help them financially in exchange for free lifetime repairs of my weapons and armor or some other story. So you can put those on their equipment lists. As far as the pronounciation, I like ah-NAHT. I like the "hardworking honest folk" line too. I'm chaotic good and I'm positive no one is evil so I think we'll all get along ok. I'm not too worried about us bumping into a whole lot of things in the dungeon that we won't want to kill anyway. We can burn that bridge when we come to it.
Anath and Seth are siblings. They are well respected by their dwarven clan. Like most dwarves they get their work done and their hearts are in the right place. They don't really have anything notiable about them or their past. They are known as working as a team, having been raisded to do so. Rather than be everything to everyone as individuals they have trained so that together they can offer a wide range of fighting styles and crafting that complement eachother well. Together they are truly a one stop shop both on the battle field and in the workshops.
Because they both focus on mastering complementing skills they were able to master the skills available in their home clan in half the time a dwarf normally takes. Because of this they are heading out for adventure and learning. They hope to bring back stories, skills, and hopefully some gold to their clan where they can retire comfortably putting their weapons on the wall and keeping their smithing hammers in hand.
Since I do not have to buy MW thieves tools, I can buy another silk rope. I can not carry the rope, so maybe one of the dwarves could carry it. I don't know if you can edit a comment. I know you can change any posts that you make if you log in at blogger, but I don't know if the comments show up there also.

Here are caprico's and my suggestions for this character:
feats: power attack and rapid metabolism (new general feat from Psion book - heal at regular rate + 2 X CON bonus)
skills: armorsmithing (4), intimidate (4)
weapons: dwarven waraxe, 6 light hammers
armor: scale mail
1 cure light wounds potion
misc equip: backpack, waterskin, 14 rations, grappling hook, crow bar, and flint and steel
By the way, we figured these guys out before seeing the info about the minis. Pretty cool they worked out for the mini's looks too!
Let us know what you all think!

Don't worry about figuring out stuff for the dwarves, Fell will be outfitting them. We just have to worry about feats and skills.

Was the equip for Dwarf #2 ok too? We tried to equip them as if they were traveling together - not sure if that was a good assumption or not.

By the way, any comments on the equip, feats, skills, etc of the other dwarf?

I will be working on character stuff tonight. I'll put my two cents in soon.
Can anyone take the rapid metabolism feat or is a Psion feat?

Staying at a medium load for Saphira, I could carry either of those items for the wee hobbi..er halfling.

Anyone know if there is a way?
