Somehow, This Does Make Me Feel Cool

The Geek Hierarchy, I'm still relatively not geeky on the list according to this :-)

Ummm, furries? Maybe I'm not such a big geek. I don't even know what a furry is. Much less an erotic furry. And I'm not sure if something erotic and furry is making me hot or uncomfortable.

Don't Google it - lol! Go out to www.urbandictionary.com and look it up. Its one of those terms that would make the Internet filtering stuff we have at work blow up :)

Reading that chart gave me flashbacks to doing my taxes. You know the flow charts, you can file the short form if...see confusing chart below.
I noticed 13 year old gamers fell on that chart. So, where do 30something year old gamers fall? I'm just asking for a friend.

I don't get the internet filtering reference - unless you only pay attn to the "erotic furry" part of the definition.

Here is what it said:
"In the broadest definition, someone who finds the idea of anthropomorphic (humanlike) animals, in art, fiction, cartoons, costume, or other media, to be an appealing one. Furries are an extremely diverse group and no one furry may possess all, or any, of the traits typically associated with the group; furries can range from people who are fans of old Warner Bros. and Disney cartoons; people who enjoy portraying anthropomorphic animals in art; people who enjoy imagining what a future, past or alternative world might be like if humans were replaced with or accompanied by anthropomorphic animals; and people who like wearing costume tails, ears and/or animal mascot costumes, to those who feel spiritual connections to animals or to the animal form; those who admire the beauty, power, speed or grace of of the animal form; those who believe they have empathy with or can communicate with animals, for example people who work with them; people who have a great deal of respect for animal welfare; and people who find the concept of anthropomorphic animals enjoyable in a sexual way. (Amongst many, many other things.)"

According to that definition, I think we are all furries - where does that put us on the flowchart again? Or does the whole 30-year-old gamer thing trump the furry thing in geekiness? Or does me asking that question trump all the others?

By the way, that urban dictionary site was cool - chock full of words I didn't know. Watch out Loki, Malakar, and D.L. - I am going to look up the words you use that I don't understand! I might even learn a few you don't know!

Dwarf,
the hook is in the last sentence of the definition.

The urban dictionary seems pretty cool, but I also like the wikipedia for looking up stuff like this (this entry gives a bit more explanation of Alessia's original reaction): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry

*shakes head furiously*

You've got it DL! That's why the internet filter at work would go spastic. The first time I encountered the work furries, I Googled it at home and was met with....well, more erotic furries definition than the tamer version. Lol!

Sorry deathboy, I still disagree. The famous exmaples at the site you sent a link to were not erotic by my standard - the characters from Roger Rabbit, Father of the Pride, and Watership down.

Maybe the crux of this is in our definitions of erotica???? I mean sure Roger Rabbit's wife, Jessica, had big tits, but was she erotic? Not really to me.

OK. This may make things more clear -

Some furries like to dress up like animals and have sex with each other.

They sometime have big parties where they yif and scritch all night long. (Just thought I'd give you a couple more terms to look up)
