I Wish I Knew How to Quit You

Another gem that I found while my alter ego was blog surfing. Check it!

You MUST Watch This

You might want to watch this at home (only because it is 11 minutes long). Fell and lkmanitou have probably already seen this, they find everything cool. I found this through someone who commented on my alter ego's blog. Hope you enjoy Fear of Girls.

Olive Garden?

I can stop by Olive Garden on my way into Lafayette Friday night. Post orders if you want me to pick something up for ya :)

OMG!!!

What happened to our byoo-te-full 'Sup Kitty blog template? Something heaved on my knitting blog's template, too. *cries*

Band From Nantucket Blog

Ok, I got the new blog up and going this afternoon, Band from Nantucket. I have our backstory and introductions up so far; I'll be adding as laundry permits today. I'll work on getting it out of the cookie cutter template over the next week. I have to be in the right frame of mind to use Photoshop.

Completely off subject, but here's the video I mentioned Friday: The Internet is for Porn. Should I have to say it, its not work-friendly. But it is quite a catchy tune from Avenue Q!

Culver's?

Michizzle and I will be stopping by Culver's for dinner. Any takers?

on a different note...iPod protection

We are thinking of purchasing an iPod - as I am sure you are all aware since I need to talk about it for about 100 years before actually making a decision. It is "new" technology after all - don't want to rush into the water.

So I asked Michizzle and another friend of mine about protection for said potential iPod. Neither seemed psyched about my choices. He sent me the following link:

http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm?viewfrom=1&catid=204&step=2

All I can say is OMFG! How are there that many choices for how the iPod looks?

Another character

Would y'all be averse to having another character show up on occasion (when realworld circumstances allow)?

Garrick is a half-orc living on the outskirts of Nantucket, more at home in the wilderness than the city, but not welcomed by his orcish kinsmen. I'm thinking chaotic neutral ranger/barbarian but not sure which to start out as (using the stats I rolled but never used for the last campaign). Motivation for adventuring would be loot, of course, but perhaps also a bit of a chance at revenge against the evil things in the forest.

In all probability I wouldn't be able to show up more than once a month or so, possibly less during the early part of the year, but if that's ok for everyone else I'd love to play even occasionally.

Elegost Half-elf Druid

13 str 16 Dex 15 con 13 int 17 wis 11 cha
10 hitpoints 17 ac +3 init

Skills that points were put into (bonuses are added in)
concentration 6
Handel Animal 1
Knowledge(Nature) 4
Listen 8
Ride 4
Spellcraft 2
Spot 8
Survival 12

Feat: Skill focus(survival)

The +12 to my survival roll means I will always be able to find food and water for myself and one other person in the wilderness. For every additional 2 I get on my roll I can add another person to the amount of food and water I can find. So with a roll of 6 or better on a D20 I can find food and water for our whole party. That way we need less rations (less weight) except when we are not in the wilderness. I can also do things like predict the weather for a week or more with a roll of 3+ on a d20. Seems like it will be a useful skill for us, but if it isn't I just won't put anymore points into it since I already have the 12.

I am able to keep myself at a light load by keeping non-essential equipment with my horse.
Carrying
Backpack, bedroll, sling bullets, flint and steel, 5 trail rations, sling, full waterskin, leather armour, heavy wooden shield, scrimitar, sling
On Horse
Bit and bridle, military saddle, saddlebags, hooded lantern (have light spell), 2 pints of oil, 50ft of silk rope (lighter for when we do need to carry it), spell component pouch.

I don't know if I need the component pouch or not so I have one just in case. It's on the horse but I can carry it and stay at a light load if I leave 4 sling bullets or 2 rations with the horse.

This leaves me with 45 gold and 71 silver. I would like to buy some oats for my horse to carry. Normally it just eats grass but if it has to do a lot of work the oats are good to throw in here and there. The oats are very cheap so figure I have at least 45 gold to throw into the groups funds. I would be ok with the shovel and maybe a few torches to keep on the horse. That will give us a lantern and torches should we need light and run out of spells and I don't think we'll need the shovel inside anywhere....if we do we can always go out and get it.

The Halfling Rogue

With your suggested changes here is what I've got.

Halfling Rogue will multiclass Fighter
13 = WIS, 14 = INT, 11 = CHA, 13 = CON, 13 = STR (it was a 15 but -2 for halfling), 17 = DEX (it was a 15 but +2 for halfling).

HP=7
AC=16 (I think)

skill point distributuion (no bonuses have been added in) :
listen(4), move silent(2), open lock(4), search(4), spot(4), disable device(4), use rope(4), tumble(4), jump(2), hide(2), climb(2), balance(2), appraise(2)

Feat: precise shot (probably)
equiptment:
leather armor
sling
sling bullets(10)
crossbow light
bolts(20)
daggers(2)
morningstar
backpack
bedroll
beltpouches(2)
waterskin
rations(5)
sunrods(5)
MW thieves tools

This leaves me with 2gp and 6sp. You all are welcome to my wealth.

group equipment

Do we want to pool our remaining money and get some group equipment?

I have 15.7 gp.
Fel had some left.
LKM had some left.

What do we need/want? Some ideas I had were:
Cure light wounds potion (I have one already. Not sure who else bought one)
Theives tools (not sure if Loki was able to buy these)
acid flask
alchemist fire
tanglefoot bag
shovel
tindertwigs

We also discussed a heal kit.

Can we all post how much we have left after buying our equipment and an idea of what we'd like to buy?

My preferences are:
theives tools
shovel
cure light wounds potion
acid flask/alchemist fire

I Need Input on Rogue/Fighter

I have to make a choice. I will either have a +2 CON and +0 STR or I can have a +1 CON and +1 STR. As a halfiling I have a -2 to my STR. Maybe the latter of the 2 is better. Since I have to use small weapons as a halfling, they do less damage. My thought is, it would be better to have at least a small damage bonus, it's better than nothing. But I would really like to have as many hit point as possible since I am going to be a melee character. What do you guys think I should do?

Backstory Idea

Nantucket is a medium size city that acts as a trading hub for a near by port city (here after referred to as city2).

The port is very busy and sees a lot of goods shipped in and out of city2.

The road between Nantucket and city2 is through hostile wilderness. The forest and few mountains between the two cities offer tremendous hiding places for the evil creatures and people of the wilderness. For this reason all attempts to make the roads between the cities safe have been effective only for the short term and have been costly.

Because of this multiple roads between the two cities have developed to make it more difficult for would be ambushers to know what road travelers are using.

Merchants also hire caravan guards to protect their wares. The income from shipping goods overseas and bringing in foreign goods is too good to avoid and allows the merchants the finances to hire a competent guard.

Our party has made a name for itself in these tasks. The druid takes up these tasks to help fight the un-natural evil around his home city as the caravans make good bait. The hybrid nature of our party has helped us take on any encounter to date. The merchants like using our group because we have the abilities of a much larger group of guard without the added cost of more individuals.

From time to time our party takes on other type of work, such as rescuing merchants that have been taken in route, eliminating hostile groups who raid a little too often or set up their dens to close to the cities population.

One such job has just come our way. It is a caravan guard job, but to a place we have not been.

-----------------

So what do you think?

Possible reasons for the others to be part of our party.

Cleric - worshiping a god of nature. The jobs taken by the party lead to the cleric bringing divine justice to the evil in the wilderness, while protecting the good.

Druid - Gives him an opportunity to fight the un-natural on a regular basis.

Bard - The adventures themselves add to the subject matter of our bard’s songs and poetry. As well as getting to share and hear tales from both the port city, far away places and the merchants that travel by land to Nantucket to buy the wares from overseas.

Rogue/Fighter - Opportunity for adventure. Anyone can break into a place in the city to steal. It takes much more skill to break into a den of evil creatures that have horded the loot of caravans. Also the party comes across the remains of caravans which have not made the trip safely. It's a terrible loss of life and all, but that means the chests left behind by the attackers have no owners and are waiting to be opened by a new set of owners.

I figure this gives us a decent reason for being in a party together, while allowing each of us to have our own agenda. Having had these previous adventures we are already adept at working together which will be a must for us to survive our next adventure.

Proposed Change of Date (Again)

OK, I'm gettin' a little anxious to start the new campaign and the BOD has been kind enough to let me start on the 20th instead of the 27th. If everyone can have their character sheets ready to go on the 20th you'll still have until the 27th to get your figures painted without having any unfortunate accidents befall the equipment you purchased with extra 100GP. If anyone can't be ready by next Friday we can wait until the 27th. Just let me know.

The unnamed, faceless Bard

Here is what I am thinking about for the Bard. I thought I would post it for comments since we are supposed to be a pre-formed party. Let me know if I am doubling something one of you were specializing in. I see him as a negotiator, spy type of character.

CHA = 16, DEX = 16, INT = 15, CON = 13 (7 hit points), STR = 10, WIS = 10

Skills (only took class skills, no cross-class):
Perform (3), Concentration (4)
Knowledge history (3), Knowledge arcana (3)
Sense motive (3), Diplomacy (2), Bluff (2), Gather information (2)
Decipher script (2), Spellcraft (2), Use magic device (2)
Hide (2), Move silently (2)

Spells Known:
light
mage hand
message
read magic

Also know the following for being a Gnome: speak with animals (1/day), dancing lights, ghost sound, and prestidigitation (one of those 3, one time/day)

Equipment:
studded leather
gnome hooked hammer
crossbow, light
20 crossbow bolts
Cure Light Wounds potion
backpack
bedroll
trail rations (7 - BOD suggested amount)
waterskin
fish hook
sun rod (3)
sewing needle
ink pen
ink
parchment (5 sheets)

I don't think I have forgotten anything important.

I have 15.7 gp left (by my calculations - hopefully not too far off). I had some suggestions of things we might want as a party. I am willing to purchase these (or something else) or donate my money toward something we need. Let me know what you think.

Alchemist fire
Acid flask
Tindertwigs
Everburning torch
Tanglefoot bag
Shovel
Flint and steel
Money toward Kris's horse supplies

dinner on Friday

I have jury duty tomorrow :(, so Phollower offered to get dinner so I can decide what I want today, rather than him having to pick something for me tomorrow. He is going to pick up Exotic Thai II (the place near us in Lafayette). Phollower will have the menu with him at work if you would like to email him/call him to see if your favorite meal is available or to get some suggestions. Get your orders in by 4:30 tomorrow.

Date for Change of Scenery

After speaking with the BOD we've come up with a tentative date of January 27th for beginning the new "outdoor" campaign. As with the current campaign there will be a 100GP bonus for having a painted figurine although the money won't be spent until the campaign actually begins. You can decide how you'd like to spend the money ahead of time but, well, I'll tell you more about it in person. I'm pretty excited to be Death Lord again. More excited than I thought I would be. I think the new campaign will be interesting and hopefully engaging in more ways than just battle. We'll see.

Friday?

Yeah, new year, but I'm still a flake with remembering plans. Are we playing D&D this week?
